Most people wait until New Years Eve to make a New Years Resolution. I think an approach like that is destined for failure, because it only takes a week to change your mind, or decide that it wasn't really a well planned idea. Also, there is no time like the present. So when you have a good idea, you better jump on it. My idea (the revelation mentioned) happened towards the end of Nov 2005.
Also, I don't want to have a plan to get in shape in record time and then not be able to make it. Besides, any kind of fitness plan has to be a long term commitment.
So, I figure the end of 2005 will be a good ramping up period, and then hit it hard in January, and make it a 2006 plan. As in, the entire year.
- Dec 2005: Ramp Up
- January to July 2006: Get Fit
- Second half of 2006: Maintain It
